Joey O'Connor Becomes No. 21 01/17/2012
![]() O'Connor picked OSU over Cal and Iowa. Less than 48 hours after receiving an offer from the Buckeyes during his official visit, offensive lineman Joey O'Connor has committed. The 6-4 290 pound product from Windsor, Colorado, had originally committed to Penn State, but decided to part ways with the Nittany Lions after the scandal broke. In recent weeks he had narrowed his list to Cal, Iowa and Ohio State, and despite not having an offer, made the trip to Columbus for a visit. He received the offer he was looking for, and has become an important piece to the 2012 recruiting class. He is the fourth offensive lineman in the class joining Taylor Decker, Jacoby Boren, and Pat Elflein. He is slotted to play guard or possibly center for the Buckeyes, and helps provide quality depth at a spot of desperate need. Meyer and the staff will still be looking to add one more tackle, likely either Jordan Diamond or Kyle Dodson in the coming weeks. You can find O'Connor's highlights after the jump... Interesting video. Looks like once he locks onto a defender, it's lights out. Does seem to have bit of a testy streak in him.

I like his mean and nasty side, he plays till the play is dead. He's got pretty good feet but his size will make him a Guard.

Very glad to see O'Connor added to this class. I've watched a lot of film on these recruits, and O'Connor's film was one of my favorites since I first watched it. Love how he finishes blocks! It's early, but I have a strong feeling this kid will make a great Buckeye.
