What is The Silver Bullet?

The Silver Bullet is an Ohio State sports blog for those who eat, sleep, and breathe all things Buckeye. It was founded in January of 2008 by the father and son duo of Dave and Drew Thurman. With their family and friends annoyed by the sheer amount of Buckeye talk coming from both men, they decided to channel their chatter to the internet.

In the early days the blog was pretty rough all the way around, and it's amazing that people actually decided to read and support it. Now four years later, the blog has grown into something much more than what they ever initially dreamed. With thousands attending the site, recognition by news agencies and some of the big boys in sports journalism, and opportunities to write in other arenas, it really has been a humbling journey.

Our goal is to see the blog take larger steps in the future, and to become one of the premiere Buckeye sports destinations on the internet.

What's with the name?

In the late 90's, during the John Cooper era, the Buckeye defense became known as the "silver bullets," a name that has stuck ever since. When choosing a name for this blog, it quickly appeared that naming ourselves after our beloved defense was easily the best fit.

Our Editors

Dave Thurman @DThurman7

Dave spent his formative years in southern Africa, moving to Cincinnati as a teenager in time to catch the Woody and Archie era. That's all it took for him to become a fan, and he has followed OSU sports (especially football) closely ever since. For the past twenty plus years he has attended at least one game each year, and usually it's a family affair, with lots of tailgating before kickoff. Besides traveling overseas to lead short-term mission trips there is little he enjoys more than a Buckeye victory...especially if it is over that team up north.

Drew Thurman  @osusilverbullet

From the womb, Drew was donning scarlet and gray. He had plans in sports journalism and/or a degree at The Ohio State University, before pursuing a calling into ministry at Cincinnati Christian University. He now resides with his wife in Phoenix, AZ. Drew loves spending his time analyzing Buckeye football, watching recruits play their high school football games, and yelling at people in Michigan apparel. He looks forward to continuing the Buckeye tradition in the family, and writing for the blog for years to come.

Our Team

Corey Andry @CoreyAndry

Corey grew up in southern Indiana in a football oriented family. He played quarterback and strong safety throughout his high school career developing an in depth understanding of X's and O's. When his cousin committed to play for Gerry DiNardo at LSU in 1994, he was forever converted to a Bayou Bengal. Living in B1G country, Corey loves to gloat about the recent dominance of the SEC on the gridiron. If you're looking for some common ground with this crazy Cajun, he is a die hard Reds fan. Corey now works in ministry in Lincoln, IL.

Zach Clark @Zach_TSB

Brainwashed a Buckeye fan by his father, Zach's Saturdays in the Fall have always been consumed with observing the silver bullets in action. Growing up in the Chicago suburb of Naperville has never stopped him from analyzing and reading any Buckeye news he could get his hands on and attending at least one Buckeye game a year. Unfortunately, he currently attends the University of Illinois and is majoring in Consumer Economics and Finance with a minor in Communication. However, this has not hindered his ability to devote his fanhood to the Buckeye Nation. Like many others, his fondest memory as a buckeye fan was watching his favorite Buckeye Craig Krenzel win the 02-03 National Championship for all of the Buckeye faithful. Needless to say, he lists a certain university located in Ann Arbor as his most hated.

Eric Cooper @Ohioan330

I am a native of Northeast Ohio and a life long Buckeye fan currently serving in the US Navy and stationed in Rota, Spain with aspirations of attending THE Ohio State University upon my discharge from service.

Our Interns

Andrew Chirico @bucknut22

I am currently sixteen years old and I attend Morris Hills High School in Rockaway NJ. I play football and do track. I take my school work serious because I plan on attending a four year college out of state. I am a big Ohio State fan and I love college football. Whatever I am doing, I'm competitive about it and I work hard at it. I also have a love for doing interviews, and already have a history of talking with recruits.
